How do I ask a question? |
You must be a registered member and sign in first to ask a question. Make sure you have searched the entire knowledge system and no similar questions exist. When you write your question sentence, be as clear and accurate as possible. You also need to provide a good set of question attributes, such as category, keywords, and type. If you are not sure about category and type, try to be more generic. As for keywords, think about what other people might type to search for your question and try to come up with a complete set of keywords.
If you want to provide both question and its answer, input the answer after you have typed the question sentence and its attributes. |

How do I edit a question? |
You must be a registered user and sign in first to edit a question. From the question viewing page, click on the "Edit" link to access the question editing page where you could edit the question sentence, question attributes, and question answer.
An editing by a regular user will be reviewed and accepted by Wisteme administrators before it becomes a valid version of the question. However, the changes made by advanced users will automatically be accepted as a valid version. The most basic principle used by Wisteme administrators for accepting an editing is to check whether the change attempt is vandalism or not.
How do I do spell check, add a hyperlink, and add an image?
-
Firefox version 2 and higher: there is a built-in spell checker enables users to quickly check the spelling of text entered into Web forms without having to use a separate application. When incorrect words are recognized (on the fly), they are immediately underlined. If you right click on the underlined words, you will get a list of spelling suggestions in the context menu. IE: IE does not provide a built-in spell checker. But you can download ieSpell, a popular and free Internet Explorer browser extension that spell checks text input boxes on a webpage.
- To add a hyperlink, highlight the text you want to add the link and then click the "Insert/edit link" icon. A dialog will pop up that allows you to insert or update the URL of the link.
- To add an image, mouse click the position you want to add the image and then click the "Insert/edit image" icon. A dialog will show up to allow you upload and insert the image. Use the "Upload" tab to upload the image first. Once the image has been uploaded, use the "General" tab to select the image you want to insert with specification of its "Dimensions" and "Alignment".

What is editing conflict? How do I handle it? |
Wisteme does not prevent multiple members to edit the same version of a question. A conflict happens when more than one person submit changes to a version of a question. The way Wisteme resolves editing conflict is to always accept the first submission as a valid submission and reject all the subsequent submission based on the same version as invalid. When your editing gets rejected due to editing conflict, you need to save your changes somewhere, download the latest version of the question, and merge your changes to the latest version. |

What shall I do when I find a question editing does not bring any value? |
If a question editing is partially inaccurate or incomplete, the best way to handle it is to further modify the question to make it as accurate and complete as possible. However, if an editing does not bring any value to this question, then you could initiate a reject vote to this version of the question. If your reject vote gets approved by the majority of the voters, then this version of question will be removed from the question version database. |
