The issue is I encountered is that Rufus says the ISO is not bootable. I also simply had to reload Vista Home Premium -and then the problems with SP1 began. Most users posting in that thread only see WU hang at "Checking for updates..." when it detects a large number of available updates so it's difficult to determine if any changes Many thanks to whoever figured this fix out an posted it.
