Windows 8 Won't Download Updates
It happened when I upgraded to Windows 8.1; I had over 100 updates to download. Stopped services, deleted files in c:\windows\softwareDistribution, restarted services, looked for updates and they were downloaded! This bug causes file-copy operations to halt, network connections to slow, and streaming media (e.g., audio, video) to become distorted. Sometimes an update gets corrupted and then Windows gets confused and thinks the service is no longer running.
