There are two ways to work around this issue: Download and install Windows Update version 7.6.7600.320 using the download links provided in Microsoft's Knowledge Base Article KB2887535.
Again this did happen on a Dell r610 running server 2008 in our environment, it wasn't just vms.

I gave a look into IIS logs (c:\Windows\iis7.log) and I notice that during SP1 installation there were some IIS module unistalled and installed, and some of them were not succesful installed.
