Now the weird thing: I had the same problem with my previous pc, which had a different motherboard(I think it was an Asus M4A785TD-V EVO). None of my USB devices was functional. If you determine the usb port is indeed damaged, and you don't want to replace the motherboard (I sure wouldn't), you could always install USB pci card.
