your a star NetoluFeb 17, 2016, 10:37 AM As mentioned, Selective Suspend it typically the cause of this issue. its just a suggestion because it worked for me. maybe its faulty wires or something. Did you do a fresh install of 8.1 when you set this system up?
However, when I attempted to do that, it told me that it was not relevant to my Windows 8.1 computer, so, back to square 1. but iv switched mb since then. Find 'USB settings' and open.5. Find 'USB settings' and open.5.

im not sure how that works since usb is claimed to handle over 250 devices if not more, and since only 2 of the devices are hd and the other one

and what is even more odd is that the laptop does not have USB 3.0 ports or the option in the bios obvies.

Judging by how you say you've tried multiple things in your post, Id almost have to say its a hardware issue, or something weird that Windows is doing.
