Everyone else (including Asus) still uses the old 2.0.4, and I've yet to have a problem with USB3.0 on their boards (like the P8P67 PRO). the Cinnamon version is very much like windows (user interface) and should not seem too odd. You only need a very minor drop in voltage, and the ports won't work.
