Have you tried reinstalling the driver from Acer eRecovery management?
I used the Serial Number or SNID to find the correct system for my Aspire but did not remember that I upgraded from Win8 to Win8.1.
The only components it found were: Bluetooth&WLAN (Atheros) and LAN(Realtek).2) There are 3 possible dirvers: ALPS, Elantech, Synaptics.
Reinstalled it, still facing the same issue.
If you don't see such a tab, then look for a tab labeled ELAN or Device Settings, where you'll see your touchpad listed under Devices.
Once I found the Élan Win8.1 driver (v22.214.171.124), and installed it, all the gestures work once again.

After Rebooting in device manager you should see under mouse 2 devices. 1 is the HID-compliant mouse and 2 the PS2 port Touchpad. Niether driver has any advanced function of the touchpad.
