The laptop is only a couple of weeks old & I'm pretty certain there haven't been any hardware updates in that time, but I'll check the drivers anyway. After removing that - all good. These have the most power to them, and some devices will not work well without the extra juice.
I will follow the thread for a bit, until you say you fixed it or returned it.

I did contact Dell technical support, and pretty much their only suggestion was to reinstall the driver again, which I did.

Update: I've uninstalled the touchpad drivers and used windows update to install the proper ones as the Windows 8.1 drivers recommended by MSI would not install.
