It was recommended at the time to reinstall windows, which I never did.
Ultimately I just caved and borrowed a family members computer so I could make a bootable USB.
The HDD should be ide-0 and the CDROM should be ide-1. I have changed BIOS to place cd drive 1st. If that fails, set HD to boot first, try triggering DVD at boot using F12 Boot Menu.
